Last week, GE held a four-day summit in Washington, D.C., focused on the long-term economic and industry growth of the United States.  Discussion focused on “what works in America” and one of the key messages that GE Global Research brought to the discussion was how innovation and technology are helping to build a manufacturing presence in the U.S.  Even just by following this blog you’d have seen how some of GE’s innovations in the past year are building expertise in manufacturing such as BlueArc, hybrid laser welding, and additive manufacturing.

Another great example is the technology that I have been blogging and sharing on Edison’s Desk for the past few years and that is battery technology.  Our advancements in developing a sodium metal halide battery have over the years turned into a brand new business for GE and the ongoing development of a battery manufacturing facility right here in Schenectady, NY.

To learn more about the “What Works” summit that took place in D.C. you can visit some of the recaps on GE Reports.  As well, I wanted to share two videos from the summit of Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Mark Little.  Mark took a few questions on innovation and clean energy and I wanted to share his responses here.
